Heather & Phaedra Chicago Bound - one mile at a time
Why do we walk? There are many reasons why. Did you know that this year alone it is estimated that 40,000 women will die from breast cancer? 180,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Think of your mother, your sister, your daughter, your friend, your neighbor, your cousin, your other friend and your aunt. Do any of these women have breast cancer? One in eight women will get breast cancer in her life time - which will it be?
Why do we walk? Heather's Mother died last October, 5 years after being diagnosed with breast cancer. She was a strong and courageos daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Her life ended much to soon. We walk in her memory. Why do we walk? We walk to honor the memory of the other women we know whose lives were cut short by this terrible disease. And we walk to honor those woman who are breast cancer survivors. We know that every step we take and every dollar we raise will bring on closer to finding better treatments and one day a cure for breast cancer. |
